We were asked to create a wedding wine box. This beautiful ceremony involves placing a nice bottle of wine inside of the box, along with special (unread) letters to each other, and locking it. It is to be opened on their 5th wedding anniversary, where they can share the wine and read each others’ letters. Then they can replenish the box to sit again for another 5 years. If they happen to have marriage troubles earlier than the 5 year anniversary, then they can open it at that time to help them get through it. This wonderful couple said they wanted us to come up with the design and just let us run with it (P.S….we love that!!!). We knew it needed to be special. We built it out of bubinga and curly maple, with curved curly walnut handles. The outside of the box is curved…and so is the inside! We found the perfect lock and hardware to tie it all together. The detail shots show the inside of the wedding box, with the tray for their letters to each other. It slides on wooden rails so that you can see the wine bottle below. The inner sides of the box are curved just like the outside. We carved their names and the date into the top with our CNC.
